The Sims 3 Review
I agree with others after playing for about two hours. I dislike how slow the speeds are, and I keep feeling like I did when I tried Sim Societies after working with Sim City for a long time. Everything feels dumbed down, cartoony, watered down, and for kids. It doesn’t feel like it usually does, not realistic. I noted that even the blocks got bigger, almost covering the entire person who is in the bath tub. I’d love to have the customization, and the personalities with the Sims 2 game play, characters, and such. I was not able to create my own lot from the start. I have heard that you can only play one family in a town. I really disliked buying food, it took a long time to move food from my sim’s inventory to the fridge. I haven’t downloaded the new town yet, however I hope it is much more customizable. I have yet to play around with the build mode, however I agree with another reviewer about the drawing of the items, as if I am in preschool and need big pictures to play the game. I plan on playing it more this weekend, however I how the game grows on me some more because I don’t know where my sims 2 disc went!
I have always being a Sim lover from the very first sim. I have the Sims 2 as well as all the expasion packs on my computer too. I purchased the Sims 3 on the day of it’s release. I downloaded it with no problem. The graphics are not as crisp as in Sims 2. The facial pictures of the characters look cartoonish and hard to distinguish the children from the adults. The new gameplay is more enjoyable with different variables and options to explore in the city. Everything runs pretty fast on my computer. I have a brand new computer with windows Vista and a lot of memory and graphics at this time. I was worried I would experience freezes or play interruption but I did not. I recommend this game to hard core Sims 3 gamers.
This edition of the Sims is a major improvement on the past editions. You can now drive places, see things, and do things that were once impossible in older editions. The game format seems like a mix of the Sims and Sim City since you can zoom out and see the whole city, and go everywhere as well as do the typical Sim things in your house. In Buy mode items are now organized by pictures…so if you want a bed for your bedroom you click on bedroom and click on the picture of the bed and your choices come up. It seemed to me that with the addition of the ability to customize the appearance of the items, the number of choices for some items has decreased. All of that said, make sure your computer meets the minimum operating requirements…as I found out, a difference of 1/2 GB of RAM can make the game play….painful. However, upgrading RAM is a quick and easy process. Overall, this game is a step in the right direction for the Sims, and EA games.
