Product Description
Set in a modern day survival-horror universe, the co-operative gameplay of Left 4 Dead (L4D) casts four “Survivors” in an epic struggle against hordes of swarming zombies and terrifying “Boss Infected” mutants. Developed by Turtle Rock Studios and Valve, creators of the Counter-Strike and Half-Life games, the latest AI technology allows for multiplayer games of one to eight players.

A new and highly virulent strain of the rabies virus emerges and spreads through the human population with frightening speed. The pandemic’s victims become grotesquely disfigured widely violent psychopaths, attacking the uninfected on sight. As one of the “lucky” few apparently immune to the sickness, you, unfortunately, are also trapped in a city crawling with thousands of the bloodthirsty Infected. Alone, you’re dead. But together with a handful of fellow survivors, you might just fight your way to safety.

Players can play as a Survivor or as one of four types of Boss Infected, each of whom possess a unique mutant ability, such as a 50-foot tongue lasso or a giant belly full of explosive methane gas. The gameplay of L4D is set across four massive campaigns. The zombie population of each mission is choreographed by an AI Director that monitors the human players’ actions and creates a unique and dramatic experience for them on the fly.

Left 4 Dead Review
My first night playing it co-op reminded me why I love PC gaming, LAN parties, etc. Even playing with total strangers the tense moments, hordes of zombies running at you at just the right moments, and the sounds of your teammates yelling for help, coordinating which way to attack, and the character voices themselves makes it feel real enough or exciting enough you want to keep playing. Even dieing gives you an adrenaline rush. I definetely will say that a headset is a must for this game to get the full co-op experience. If you don’t have a headset, order one with this game.

I was pretty excited about L4D because i generally like to play co-op games. After reading all the rave reviews, i happily plunked down $40 for the game. After several gaming sessions with friends both lan and over internet, i concur with others that the game is a blast to play (with friends, not so much solo), but i felt that there wasn’t much variety after a while. i like how the director changes things up every time you play the game, but after a while, it’s basically the same thing over and over again, a bunch of zombie meat come running at you, peppered by encounters with boomers, smokers, hunters, tanks, and the witch. hopefully valve will generate new content or add some depth to the game mechanics.

First off, the graphics and sound are pretty awesome. The sound is probably the best sound for suspense that I have heard in a long time. The gameplay combined with the environment are great! In multi-player is where this game shines…and it doesn’t just shine it fully combusts. Online play as the infected vs the survivors is my favorite. My only problem is that the single player game is incomplete. The single player game doesn’t have a coherent story-line, in fact there is no story line. You can play anyone of the characters but it doesn’t matter because each character is the same, no unique abilities or different abilities. Even with my issues with single player I will still play this game due to the fact that I think this is the best co-op/online/multi-player game out there since you have to truly work with your partners.

I had this game for almost a month and must say it is fantastic! Never boring even when replaying sites again. Had not had as much fun since Diablo 2! Being person without a lot of time to sit and learn long drawn other games, the on-line game play allows me to to jump on an existing game anytime and leave or take a break on pause mode anytime! Having a hectic career this game is a necessary stess relief therapy! And learning curve is fast! Co-operative is truly fun building a sense of carmaraderie among fellow players! Get the game! It truly is gratifying watching zombies head explodes and limbs fall off their bodies right in front of your face!
